Benoit Mandelbrot
The death of Benoit Mandelbrot me to the bookshelf to capture the behavior (MEES) of the market (which unfortunately seems to be out of print in the UK) and engineering fractal nature (as above). I do not remember exactly when I read for the first time on the work of Mandelbrot discovered the beauty of fractals. Not only the fractal geometry to create pretty pictures, it seems clear it is also true, and mathematical description of nature. Certainly, thinking in Arcadia Thomasina in Tom Stoppard’s this:
